Sweet Spot Food Plot Seed Mix

Sweet Spot is a food plot seed mixture developed by Sucraseed that has properietary High Sugar Grasses as the primary component.  High Sugar Grasses are a forage grass variety that has high composition of soluble carbohydrates that provide a nutritional boost to your deer herd.  Soluble carbohydrates are utilized in the stomach (rumen) of a deer to more effectively digest protein from all of their food sources including the protein sources in the Sweet Spot food plot seed mixture.

In addition to the proprietary High Sugar Grasses, Sucraseed has added other food plot seed forages depending on climate of planting zone.  To design Sweet Spot food plots seed mixtures for warmer climates, Sucraseed mixed annual and perennial clovers, daikon radishes, and purple top turnips to create Southern Sweet Spot food plot seed mix.  In the Deep South, the High Sugar Grasses in Southern Sweet Spot food plot seed mix usually last one year except for the perennial white clover which will last until the next fall when Southern Sweet Spot food plot seed mix should be planted again.  Southern Sweet Spot food plot seed mix can be planted in northern climates and the further north you go, the longer it will last - up to 3 years.

For cooler northern climates, Sucraseed created Northern Sweet Spot food plot seed mix which consists of their properietary High Sugar Grasses, perennial clovers, birdsfoot trefoil, and chicory.   The varieties in the Northern Sweet Spot food plot seed mix are a perennial blend designed to last up to 5 years up north depending upon climatic conditions over time.  Because it contains more perennial forages, Northern Sweet Spot food plot seed mix is more expensive than Southern Sweet Spot food plot seed mix.  If you are going to invest in Northern Sweet Spot food plot seed mix, make sure your pH is above 6.0 so that you will get the food plot life you expect.  If you are pH is below 6.0, I recommend going with the Southern Sweet Spot food plot seed mix.

The attraction of the High Sugar Grasses in Sweet Spot food plot mixes make them very great tools to use in smaller harvest plots.  My clients had a high rate of deer activity last year in the Sweet Spot food plots - one client had over 300 trail cam pictures in 3 days!

Almost all clients last year said they would plant 4 to 5 times more food plot acres in Sweet Spot food plot seed mix - the success rate was incredible.

Sweet Spot food plot seed mixes should be planted as early as possible in the fall provided you have enough rainfall.  Sweet Spot food plot seed mixes should be planted no more than 1/4 inch deep and can be planted just like perennial food plot seed is planted in your food plots.  Send an email to dbwoutdoors@yahoo.com for complete pricing.
